Well you know, I had a ray gun back when I was eight. Zapped and dodged and watched the backs of all my battle mates. Because back then, We all lived in an action movie. And we ran, and we ran, and we ran, and we ran... And you know, there are times when I still wish We all lived in an action movie.

They used to be quite familiar, But that, that was a long time ago. These days it was so rare to see her; How could he say no? She said that she was delighted. She said she was so excited to hear the news. She asked if she was invited. He said "No, no, I'm sorry. There won't be enough room. No, no... Not for you." He wondered if he should tell her, As if he had something to say. There was one thing of which he was pretty sure: He'd feel a different way on a different day.

It can't hear; It can't see. It can only feel. It inches toward a barren future 'til the bird gets the worm. It will squirm but it can't scream. There is no escape. It will lose its every nothing when the bird gets the worm. But I can hear, and I can see. I can understand the worm though it can't me. And I can wonder what will happen when the bird gets me.

Sitting in the grass, She watches the leaves twinkle, Looks down, Sees and smooths a wrinkle, Then wishes she hadn't done. These things happen fast. She finds she's never able To slow down, Cognize all that's on the table. Some things are already gone.

“Forward, towards that new sunrise,” he cried. Thinking, just to himself, “I must leave this place before another night falls.” He felt the warmth on his face and hands, Felt the fire of novel plans, And he stepped forward; And he was sure Of what we never are That he left nothing behind. “Onward!” he cried, as the sun sank low. His boots slugged slow , mud tugged his toes, and yet he struggled on. In his mind he saw fresh green and blue Waiting with limbs wide open Beyond the vast, dark peaks ahead; And he was sure Of what we never are That he left nothing behind. He had arrived, and he found all he had dreamed of and more. Here was green and blue and pink, and he grinned as the wind blew thick with satisfaction. But in the moonlight he grew restless, In his gut an eager knot, Eyes already gazing outward; And he was sure Of what we never are That he would leave nothing behind.

about

A collection of works from 2012-2015.

On the title, and the (loose) theme:
Maybe sometimes you feel as though you've lost something, but you can't say what it would be. This has happened to me. The best way I know to fill the void left by these disappearing undeterminables is with fiction, of one sort or another.
Although this is not a concept album, I hope to have created a whole that is more than the sum of its parts, whether the remainder is effable or not.
